Marriage Licenses - By Appointment ONLY

Marriage Licenses are issued Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm only. - BY APPOINTMENT 

Please bring valid identification;  acceptable forms of ID: Current Driver's License, Current Passport or Current Non-Driver's I.D. No photocopies, emailed, text or faxed documents will be accepted. No exceptions.

Both parties must be present at the time of license registration. No exceptions.

There is a 24-hour waiting period from the time you take out your license to the time you may be married.

The license itself is good for 60 days.

Please Note: The Clerk's Office requires a certified birth certificate with a raised seal. If it is in a foreign language, you must have an English translation that also has a certification and raised seal.

Please bring prior Certified Divorce Papers or a Certified Death Certificate if either applies.

There is a $40 fee. Cash, check or money order,  payable to Town of Fallsburg.

Preparing for a Marriage License Appointment: 

• Please call the Town Clerk’s Office to make an appointment. 60 days from the day it is issued, but there is a mandatory 24-hour waiting period after the license is received before a marriage ceremony can take place. For active military personnel, the license is valid for 180 days. The license can only be used for a ceremony within New York State.
